Point-of-sale packaging

Datamatrix 2D coding technology has become the international coding standard. The use of Datamatrix code, as recommended for pharmaceutical products by EFPIA (European Federation of Pharmaceutical Industries and Associations), allows the coding of information relating to the manufacturer’s product code, unique serial number, lot number, and expiration date, thereby increasing reliability in the supply chain.

Beginning in February 2019, nearly all prescription medications must include a unique code to track each package to its origin. It is very important that this code be applied with high quality, necessitating the use of accurate, reliable, and high-quality equipment.

This complex code must be applied with the best quality processes. The available space for the code is often quite small, so it is not only the accuracy of the printing that is important, but also the placement of the code itself.

UBS’ TJX Series technology is readily integrated in production lines, it can easily communicate with different ERP systems and traceability software, and can print high-quality 2D Data Matrix barcodes on point-of-sale packaging at high outputs, converting the operation into a safe, efficient, clean process.

Print & Apply

Real-time automatic printing and application of labels eliminates  the errors caused by manual labeling and provides greater speed and accuracy, reducing operating costs in the production chain.

Thanks to their multiple application options, UBS APL Series Print & Apply  systems allow for on-the-fly, high-cadence labeling of all types of secondary packaging (front, rear, side, top, corner, and adjacent-side labeling). For end-of-line labeling of pallets, we  also  offer  the option to label pallets and half-pallets on 1, 2, or 3 sides, including stacked and/or variable height pallets.

Thermal Inkjet printers are specially designed for Inkjet Coding and Marking on primary packaging.

Unlike other technologies, the TJX Series does not require any maintenance. Each cartridge replacement equates to a new printhead.

The TJX Series was devised for direct printing on different substrates, both porous and non-porous, through HP 2.5 cartridge technology in combination with UBS’ range of water-based, solvent-based, and UV LED inks.

Units can reach printing speeds of up to 120 m/min and resolutions of up to 900 dpi.
